American Airlines Info

Dear Team,
I just got some important info from American Airlines:
  • 2 checked bags, which should not exceed 50 lbs each, and whose total dimensions (adding length + width + height) should not exceed 62"
  • 1 carry-on which can be 40 lbs and 45" total (l+w+h)
  • 1 personal item (laptop, purse, bookbags)- should not exceed 36"
    • (the general idea is the carry-on should fit in the overhead compartment, and the personal item should fit under the seat in front of you, use that as your guide- that is what the airline and crew is most concerned with, i.e. what the measurements are based on)
  • CPAP's- DO NOT COUNT AGAINST YOU as a carry-on or personal item, so no worries. You get CPAP, plus a whole carry-on, and a whole personal item.
  • Guitars can be a carry-on (and exceed size limitation) or as a checked-bag.
  • No extra $25 charge for 2nd bag- that new rule is only for domestic flights
  • Since we are booking through American, and American is the one "taking us over the water", Brussels Airlines has to follow American Airline's baggage rules for these flight, both ways. No worries about Brussels Air giving us trouble.
Peace and love,
Megan
